Here before the front page!

Ok, serious time. This is now one of my favorite works from you. The combination of monologue and instruments make this so emotional. I can tell you really put your heart into recording your lines, and you've only elevated it with the song itself. I felt every bit of the pain, the hurt, and the hopelessness you've conveyed. You've taken me on an emotional roller coaster that I didn't expect to ride tonight lol. I have such massive respect for people who can convey emotions in their music, it's something I've always loved.

Keep on going man, I am a huge fan of what you've done. If this reflects your IRL situation, I hope you figure out how to navigate this. You got this, and I'm so excited to see more from you in the future!

OVERSCORE responds:

I'm glad the combination gives you an emotional feeling, because it was made with PLENTY of that. Hearing that you felt all of this too... is probably the most fulfilling thing I could have been told about this, because that's my goal for this entire album. Honestly the 8th and 9th were even more emotional to me, but I can understand that they're not suited for everyone's taste.
All of the music I create reflects my life because that's where I draw inspiration. But don't worry! Music is how I express those demons, and how I keep them from affecting my mentality. I'm staying completely upbeat thanks to the freedom of expression music provides.
Thanks for reviewing, have a nice day :)

These melodies tickle my ear in such a great way, something that could easily get stuck in my head. There's only two pieces of feedback I can give.

At 1:57 the drums seem to be peaking in the waveform. Maybe a compressor to bring it down? It already sounds great, but if you're willing to compress I'm sure you'd be able to raise the volume of the track even more. However, it's not really needed, just up to personal taste.

The drop at 3:00 is epic, I love it! This might be losing the point of your track, but personally I would add a louder bass to really make that drop hit hard. Again, it might not fit with what you're going for in a track, but that's just what I would do.

Overall, yet another amazing OVERSCORE track! Like the guy below said, it's hard to review something when it's almost perfect! All of the stuff I've suggested are just things I would personally do, so it's all up to you to figure out what you'd like to do! I trust your process, as it already is great. Great song! Also it's funny that you've been front paged at least 5 times recently lol.

OVERSCORE responds:

Thanks for such a thorough review, I’ll do my best to address everything you’ve mentioned!
At 1:57, the drums might be sticking out in the NewGrounds visualizer, but they don’t seem to stick out too much in the mix to me, so I thought it was fine.
I probably could have included more bass in that huge drop, but didn’t want to overload the mix. With a wall of sound like that, you gotta be REALLY careful.
Glad you enjoyed, I can’t do anything more for this track since it’s already releasing in this form but I’m proud of it as is tbh. And, crazy fun fact, 10 of the songs on this album have been frontpaged! The last one just now uploaded, so I’ll give it some time lol

I love the piano in here, it stands out while keeping it atmospheric! Here before the front page!

OVERSCORE responds:

I thought the piano would fill some of the space but also make for a good main melody— thanks for reviewing, Potang!!

Nice remix of Windfall! As an avid TheFatRat fan, I had to take a listen. I like your sound design of the plucks here, as well as your original spin on his song!

Some things I would do would be to raise the volume of the plucks. They get drowned out by the saw chords in the background. I'd also suggest looking into more sound design and layering for the plucks. In the original song, his plucks have a strong bite to them. Maybe consider FM or PM synthesis!

Mixing wise, I'd suggest some gain staging. The risers and falls are pretty loud, and one of them seems a bit choppy. I'd also raise the volume of the drums. They sound awesome but they're a bit quiet! I'd also love to see some reverb on those main plucks, as well as the piano. It'll make it sound very atmospheric!

Voytek-Music responds:

Thanks for your review! I'll consider making some small changes to this!

Found you off of the front page lol. Sick beat! This bass riff is really catchy. I'd suggest putting a compressor on some of the elements, you could get those peaks lower and achieve more headroom, then pump up the song even louder!

slugnoid responds:

YOOOOO tysm for actually following thru w my goofy ass secret msg lol!! I'll definitely keep this in mind and mess around w it later!!

Maybe try out raising the vocals of the singers (other than the mom lol) cause it's kinda hard to hear them! Also, look into some scales and chord stuff, it'll help you create better melodies that mesh well together!

xdfhgrghxfg responds:

OK! :D

Nice opening theme! I'd suggest looking into scales and trying to use those, it'll help make the notes of the song feel more matched together!

CristoferGamer96 responds:

I like the riff! Maybe consider raising the other instruments' volumes up, or putting a compressor on the drums to make it a little softer!

EwanDog responds:

Thanks!

Sounds very chiptuney! Only thing I can think of is possibly lowering the volume of the drums. I really love how this song feels, I can totally imagine this as a town theme song! I also do love the chiptune choice. The song's a bit quiet though, you can easily raise the volume of this without running into any clipping problems!

BlueHairedBoy13 responds:

I lowered the drum volume and they’re still loud ._.
Thx for the feedback though
Updated it at some point btw

I love the Synpluck plucks from FLEX that you're using! Look into some compression for the plucks, you can compress them all a bit and then raise the volume of the track!

MrFishyFishy responds:

Thanks! I'll certainly look into that for my next egyptian-style song.
